Press Release 28th November
2001
Cara is pleased that after our recent archeological dig by Aegis a local firm, we are now proceeding with our planning application for 50 low rental apartments/study bedrooms of temporary accommodation for young people between the ages of 18-25, including class rooms, lecture theatre and Community Café, at an estimated cost of £4.5m.
Cara held a number of information meetings with local people and the plans for the project will be on display at the Civic Trust Offices, Bishops Palace, Church Street, Kings Island from Monday 10th December 2001, viewing 10am – 4 pm for a week and the following week at the Offices of Co-Ordination Limerick at 50 O’Connell Street.
Speaking at Cara National Headquarters in Limerick, Jan O’Sullivan Chair of Cara, stated “This project will be of great benefit to the local community, a great opportunity for young people at the early stages of their career and a project for Limerick to be proud of.”
Gearoid Ó Meachair, Cara's development director commented “Quickly on the heels of our Dublin Foyer we are pleased that this project will meet one aspect of youth homelessness. This is a very exciting project which will add to the overall development of the Kings Island”.
